Cannot install latest Security Monthly Quality Rollup

After downloading and installing the latest updates from Microsoft, one update failed to install...
2017-08 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4034664)
Under 'Errors Found' it listed Code 8000FFFF Windows Update encountered an unknown error
When I clicked on 'Get help with this error', it told me absolutely nothing about it.
I have tried at least a dozen times over the past week or so, each time with the same results. I have gone to the Microsoft Update Catalog and downloaded the update directly from there, but it too failed to install.
I don't know what else to do, and I am really concerned about not having all the latest security updates on my computer. Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated

Oops, maybe the wrong forum?

Our topics are creations for the computer game "Sims 3" and "Sims 4". Some of the creations are in fact computers, but as in-game-object.
